Camaret Fishing Boat

This painting was Commissioned. It shows an old tuna fishing boat not in use but still in reasonable condition. Painted from sketches and photos taken 40 years ago when the artist first visited the port. At that time there were many old tuna boats like but mostly in worse condition being left to rot, forming a ships graveyard along the quay in the French fishing port of Camaret. A visit to the same port a few years ago found that they had mostly been removed for the constuction of new marina pontoons. But there were still the remnants of some, possibly this one.
